Will Bevan has been using the same delay patch and vinyl crackle for almost twenty years, which I see as commitment. He’s become enough of a staple that people maybe don’t know he’s making some of the best music he’s ever made, almost entirely (but not totally) divorced from the garage beats that started him off. What he’s done is something close to silent film—not a lot happens, not even a basic pulse, when Bevan gets into his new emptiness style. Stick with him and you’ll hear his trademark vocal fragments in a new way.
