Keith Jarrett gets a lot of deserved attention for his solo improvisational wonders, but a spirit of equal magnitude flowed through his fingers in the company of others. For this session, triangulated by saxophonist Jan Garbarek and bassist Charlie Haden and taken to the fourth dimension by members of Stuttgart’s Radio Symphony Orchestra, he offers three long-form pieces, each bearing a dedication to someone (or something) meaningful. Whereas “Runes” is the most fragmentary of the set, “Mirrors” favors linear glances into the past, allowing Garbarek room to find his way. Between them is “Solara March,” an opulent climax.
