Of Mist And Melting

Three years after recording his solo album Theme To The Gaurdian in 1974, guitarist Bill Connors stepped into the studio with saxophonist Jan Garbarek (with whom he had just recorded Places), bassist Gary Peacock, and drummer Jack DeJohnette. With such a formidable rhythm section and melodic warrior onboard, Connors is able to take the vessel of his writing to new heights. Even with such powerful bandmates, he goes all acoustic, allowing a spacious quietude to prevail. While much of the set is fluid, the groove of “Café Vue” shows just how much energy this quartet can muster.
