At Worst…The Best of Boy George and Culture Club
Released
While 1993’s At Worst was already the third of what would be any number of compilations of Culture Club’s work over the years, it’s also a handy introduction to Boy George’s early solo years; if his chart success never reached the same heights, in retrospect his various musical explorations turned up many surprising highlights. Among the standouts: his UK smash cover of Ken Boothe’s “Everything I Own,” a vivid interpretation of “The Crying Game” from that film’s soundtrack and a lovely ballad with P. M. Dawn from their second album, “More Than Likely.”
