Oil on Canvas
Released
Oil on Canvas is that most unusual of beasts — a live album drawing from a London show in support of Tin Drum that was actually mostly reworked except for the drums, an unplanned career overview for the latter part of the band’s career (complementing the collection of earlier studio cuts in Assemblage), and, almost perversely, Japan’s biggest album chart success on top of everything else. With the addition of some short instrumental tracks, Oil in Canvas makes for a weird but still intriguing way for a remarkable band to bow out with — at least under that name.
