This 1978 album from Stephan Micus is an old soul’s tone poem. The opening “Salinas Dance” speaks of a traveler in both body and spirit, its combination of steel-string guitar and suling (Indonesian bamboo flute) welcoming a world that is at once of our making and beyond our reach. Of note are “I Went On Your Wing” (a stunner for tin whistles, guitar, and percussion) and “The Song Of Danijar” (featuring sitar and vocals). The latter’s raga-like qualities are never tokenizing, populating a landscape of its own making with figures in search of peace.
