Two mysterious singers from the Bay Area, plus a soul throwback band from Finland? Of course it worked, with a lighter and bouvier blend than some other retro bands. Myron and E are not particularly wound up about being emotional, and are even slightly deadpan as singers. It ends up working, in that we already have (or had) an Amy Winehouse. Imagine the inverse, an ice cold set of soul classicists, with more than a little Britpop dreaminess. (You can imagine Damon Albarn popping up in the middle of this.)
