Culture Club had suddenly found themselves international stars with Kissing To Be Clever and met the challenge of being flush with fame almost exactly a year later with the highly anticipated and massively successful Colour By Numbers, a near perfect example of the early 80s UK pop ferment. Boy George’s capacity for public attention and eye-capturing style were always backed up by his singing and the full band’s ear for engaging performances and arrangements made songs like “Karma Chameleon,” “It’s a Miracle” and the beautiful ballad “Victims” instantly iconic.
