Cymande

Released

The first album from Caribbean-born London-based soul\funk Rastas Cymande introduced their unique amalgamation sound which brought together a gentle and introspective approach to soul and funk, flavoured with Rastafarianism and hints of jazz. There’s plenty to love here including the exuberant ‘Bra’ which was famously sampled by De La Soul, the chugging downtempo funk classic ‘The Message’ and their near-eleven minute ‘Dove’, a sacred-sounding psychedelic soul-jazz odyssey. A highly original debut release.
