Darkwater

Released

Emerging with accidental timing a couple of months into the COVID pandemic, Darkwater delves into even deeper crises of history as the second of a trilogy of releases starting with the previous year’s Black Metamorphosis. Beginning with the float and rough beats of “The Souls of White Folk,” a nod, as with the title and more, to the work of W. E. B. duBois, Fofana maintains a slippery, elegantly nervous energy with his techno compositions throughout Darkwater, as on the mutating roil of the title track and the haunted beauty of “I ran from it and was still in it.”
