De La Tierra
De La Tierra is a Latin hard rock and metal supergroup formed by Sepultura guitarist Andreas Kisser, Los Fabulosos Cadillacs bassist Sr. Flavio, Maná drummer Alex González, and A.N.I.M.A.L. singer/guitarist Andrés Giménez. Their self-titled debut album, released in 2014, is a brutally heavy chunk of Spanish-language metalcore. Giménez has a guttural, passionate, punk-rock delivery reminiscent of Sepultura/Soulfly frontman Max Cavalera, and the riffs on songs like “Rostros” and “Detonar” are pure moshpit fodder. González is a much heavier, more aggressive drummer than his work with the (sorry) Nickelback-ish Maná would indicate, and when he gets the chance to really erupt, as on “San Asesino” and the single, “Maldita Historia,” not to mention the crushing “Reducidores de Cabezas,” the urge to leap up from your seat and kick holes in the walls may become difficult to resist.
