The Chemical Brothers

2012
Parlophone

This 2012 album was released as a CD/DVD set including a complete film of their performance at the 2011 Fuji Rock Festival. Even without the visuals, the music is absolutely overpowering; songs are blended together in sets of two and three, combining pieces from various albums and eras of the duo’s work in order to show that, as Neil Young shouted to a heckler on his own live album Year Of The Horse, “It’s all one song!” Speaking of horses, the sound of a stampeding herd, on “Horse Power” (which leads seamlessly into “Chemical Beats”) is a stunning effect whether heard through headphones or really, really big speakers.
