Dub Me
The vocal duo the Morwells and their debut album Presenting the Morwells served as the raw material for this 1975 set mixed by King Tubby. For this B&F reissue, the label pairs the original ten tracks with an additional four dubs not on the original (naturally, rare) set. And as was his wont, Tubby tosses a curveball, with the guitar highly placed in these dubs. There’s the watery strums rippling across “John Bull” and notes that swoop in like a swallow on “Morwell's Star.” Elsewhere, Tubby elicits sounds that might make you envision rockslides, sandstorms, or distant thunderstorms.
