It all came together magnificently — Marc Bolan’s knack for hooks and lines and a breathy sing-sigh, Tony Visconti’s production work on what was now his sixth album with Bolan fully bringing in the pocket orchestra feel, Flo and Eddie’s now key participation on backing vocals — and Electric Warrior was the result, one of rock and roll’s greatest albums. “Get It On,” retitled “Bang a Gong” for the US, was the anthem of anthems, but ranging from the kick of “Jeepster” and “Planet Queen” to the sweet strum of “Cosmic Dancer” and “Life’s a Gas,” what a record.
