The Primitives’ initial splash in the UK came with a series of absolutely stellar singles on their own Lazy label, making a real mark in the space that the Jesus and Mary Chain had carved out on the ‘loud as hell and even catchier’ front in that country’s indie rock scene. Rereleased and repackaged in various ways, those early songs got a solid overview with the 2013 compilation Everything’s Shining Bright, with songs like the wonderful sway of “Thru The Flowers,” the quick blasting romp “Stop Killing Me” and the perfectly dismissive “Really Stupid” all getting their proper due.
