The second of the Pet Shop Boys’ extensive B-sides collections, Format similarly makes the case that the earlier Alternative did that the duo could put as much art and care into such tracks as their main singles or album cuts. “The Truck-Driver and His Mate” starts the collection on an incredible high, another classic Neil Tennant lyric about saying just enough as needed; other notable cuts include a version of “In Private” with Elton John and a cover of a track by My Robot Friend called, but of course, “We’re the Pet Shop Boys.”
