Futurology cover
Released

Recorded during the same sessions as Rewind the Film and considered by the band to be a spikier-sounding counterpart, 2014’s Futurology has the gleam and musically cutting kick familiar from albums like The Holy Bible and Journal for Plague Lovers – not for nothing is the front cover font, drawing on Simple Minds’s Empires and Dance, the same as those two albums. But unlike Rewind’s more uneasy lyrical approach, Futurology also generally resembles that era of Simple Minds in its embrace of pan-European motorik crossed with post-punk guitar heroics.
