Georgia Satellites

Released

Forever doomed to novelty-act status by their breakout single, the goofy but sharp “Keep Your Hands To Yourself,” the Georgia Satellites were secretly one of the best Southern hard rock bands of the 1980s. Their riffs were like a twangier AC/DC, Dan Baird’s lyrics were witty and displayed a love of wordplay that never tipped over into preciousness or nerdery, and since it was the ’80s, their drums sounded like pile drivers, but in a good way. “Keep Your Hands To Yourself” kicks off the album, as it should, but keep listening for “Red Light,” “The Myth Of Love,” “Can’t Stand The Pain,” and the closing cover of Rod Stewart’s “Every Picture Tells A Story.”
