Good Humor

Saint Etienne

1998
Creation Records

Following a variety of separate side projects and one-off efforts, many of which were later collected on the Continental compilation, Saint Etienne returned to a full album approach, wanting to move beyond the Britpop tag they’d partially inspired but had grown to feel alienated from. Recording with Swedish producer Tore Johansson, who’d produced the Cardigans’ famed work like “Lovefool,” and emphasizing a live-in-studio approach leaning more towards their inspirations in earlier decades, Good Humor was an engaging reinvention, with another hit single in “Sylvie.”
