The Walker Brothers’ mid-70s reunion years were a paler rerun of their first stint – notable songs but very up and down albums, with only a remake of Tom Rush’s “No Regrets” as a UK hit single. But If You Could Hear Me Now serves as a good overview for those three albums, including said cover; while most tracks here are essentially pleasant country pop cover versions, it was the return of Scott Walker to songwriting on Nite Flights which heralded his future, notably the propulsive swirl of “Nite Flights” itself and the haunting, elegant terror of “The Electrician.”
