I’ll Try Living Like This
Released
This Dayton, Ohio trio has done something genuinely surprising and thick with whatever vaporwave was supposed to be and maybe never was. There are slowed down voices, so you get the drugginess as well as the aspirate clouds that make vaporwave albums feel like life in a glitching airplane cabin. This album, though, has tons of motion and chopping and musical texture, bringing in bits of Eighties hip-hop and lots of the present moment. And for all I know, they didn’t sample anything and this is all them singing and playing. They put out so many records, though, that I’m gonna guess this involves a lot of sampling. Like a color Xerox, left in the rain.
