In Debt

Released

Collecting their first single, album and EP in order, In Debt captures Disco Inferno first as the earnest Joy Division-and-others post-punk appreciators that they were up to the point where they began a transformation into something else again. Said early tracks are crisply recorded and well-performed – by the time of the track “Emigre” they had managed a vivid, startling beauty – but it’s songs from the Science EP, starting with the stark power of “Waking Up” and continuing through “Fallen Down The Wire”’s frenetic intensity, which showed the path forward.
