The second album from COTB has them ticking many boxes, from the bluesy harmonica-laced title track, to the languid psychedelic funk of ‘Hanging On To A Memory’, the euphoric pop-soul of Holland/Dozier/Holland’s ’Everything’s Tuesday’, the church/dancefloor vibes of ‘All Need Is Understanding’ to the heartbreak-funk of ‘When Will She Tell Me She Needs Me’. Outstanding vocal performances, a suite of accessible songs and an open approach to genre make this a strong second album from one of soul’s more idiosyncratic singing groups.
