Les Mamans Du Congo & Rrobin

Released

Renowned singer and percussionist Gladys Samba has dedicated much of her time to conserving culture and tradition in her part of Republic of Congo, and was always especially interested in ensuring the region’s lullabies would not be lost. The first stage of the project involved performing with a group of women at a theater festival in Brazzaville, and the nostalgic lullaby melodies were met with such enthusiasm that the women decided to form a group. On this album “Les Mamans du Congo’’ collaborated with French producer RROBIN, using forks, baskets, plates and recycled materials to accompany their half-sung half-rapped vocals,  adding warmth to his relaxed electronic production.
