Little Lost Soul
Released
On Little Lost Soul, Third Eye Foundation’s Matt Elliott lets his music breathe a little more – he’s dialled down the claustrophobia and intensity of this project’s first three albums. And while it wouldn’t be right to say his music’s cheered up, exactly, that breathing space makes Little Lost Soul a more approachable beast. He’s started folding plucked, folksy guitars into the album, which in retrospect, pointed towards the deathless folk songs he’d start writing and recording soon, under his own name. The scouring, gritty drones, and stumble-drunk rhythms are still present, but they’re not quite so chiaroscuro – there’s some loveliness here amongst the gloom.
