Mars Audiac Quintet

Released

Their third full album, and a subtle shift of focus, away from the purring buzz and hum of its precursor, Transient Random-Noise Bursts…, into something lighter, brighter – a shift from chiaroscuro into pastels and glittering fabrics. “Ping Pong” is remarkable in its shackling of socio-political commentary to French pop, but the real trip lies elsewhere, on the minimalist sub rosa patterns of “Anamorphose,” the Young Marble Giants click and clatter of “Des Etoiles Electroniques,” and the Canned Heat on go-slow of “Transona Five.”
