Movement

Released

Very much a portrait of a band still in unexpected transition, Movement was simultaneously a farewell to the past — it would be the last time the Joy Division veterans would work with Martin Hannett — and a tentative exploration of where the group would take its future. Vocals from all the band members aside from Stephen Morris shows further how they’re still trying things out — Peter Hook sings the lead vocal on the album opener, the sturdy rush of “Dreams Never End” — while the album has a brooding, heavy energy, making for an intense listening experience.
