New Noise

With ten songs coming in at under half an hour, 2023’s New Noise could be called an EP, but Eve Maret’s previous work having shown a sense of leaning into long spacious compositions, this is more of a concentrated example of her wide-ranging sense of how disco, space rock, new wave, drone and electronics in general can be all one and the same. “I Draw A Circle” puts all that together along with a great treated vocal, while other strong standouts include the rising pulse of the Coupler collaboration “New Day” and the murky, uneasy loops of the title track.
