The Cocteaus spent the next couple of years after Treasure concentrating on a number of excellent EPs and other projects, while their next full length that followed under the band name, Victorialand, found them taking on an entirely new direction. Temporarily returning to a core duo of Robin Guthrie and Elizabeth Fraser, in Victorialand the two of them made, if not an unplugged album, then a stripped down one, setting aside beats and more conventional rhythms for treated acoustic guitars as well as electric, while the vocals remained mysterious and entrancing.
