The math teacher and composer went to a Greek island, had a realization, and ended up echoing one of our favorite Greek composers: Vangelis. There are the markings of the moment that seem to be required now: field recordings, unidentified close talkers, maybe a bird? The backbone of the album is strong, unabashedly romantic themes, and big surges of strings. The way this unfolds feels entirely like a short story, not at all like a collection of loose tracks.
