The 2010 second album from UK DJ/producer Phil Mison, his first for the mightly Leng label, is an expertly crafted collection of dance music-adjacent tracks, ranging from light yet devotional deep house and classy slo-mo disco chuggers, to ethereal dub-electronica, soothing low tempo tango, tripped out flamenco and various other alt-Balearic musical meanderings. While Mison is content to stylistically wander, there’s a constant soothing, inviting sense of gentleness to each track: the chord progressions are tranquil, the melodies tender, the sonic juxtapositions always complement each other, and the sum of the musical parts, along with Mison’s delicately unfurling arrangements create a soft, drifting, serene listen.
