Girl-group sass, punk rock archness, power-pop joy, art-rock unreality, and new wave’s greatest disco crossover: this is the album where Blondie sounded like they could (and did) do everything. One of those rare albums where the prevalence of absolutely perfect hits (“Hanging on the Telephone”, “Sunday Girl”, “Heart of Glass”, “One Way or Another”) actually rubs off on the breath-snatching deep cuts (“11:59”; “Fade Away and Radiate”).
