While still keeping Mercury Rev going, albeit when their future wasn’t quite clear around the time of See You On The Other Side, key members Jonathan Donahue and Grasshopper fired up the Harmony Rockets as a side project for their more unusual sonic impulses. Paralyzed Mind, consisting of one track recorded live, isn’t quite, say, Dreamweapon was for Spacemen 3, but it’s definitely a treat hearing the band, with other Mercury Rev folks like Suzanne Thorpe, kick up a big noise in an epic psych jam blowout that feels cathartic.
