Stephen McBean is Pink Mountaintops, and one-man bands are not hard to find, though he’s the only one who covered Black Flag’s “Nervous Breakdown” in 2022. Not many albums actually sort of sound- and name- check Swell Maps and U2 on the same album, which may be the most psychedelic thing I can think of. Beck hops to mind, in the catholic sprawl of interests, though the high and low end of McBean’s taste spectrum go really really far. Pretty great.
