Martyn’s last Island album, and the last full album with Alan Thomson’s fretless bass. (Martyn really lived and died on the bassists he played with.) At this point, you’re just getting a by-the-numbers Eighties album with weirder singing and some really ace playing. After this, you’re on your own, as is Martyn.
