Rewilding

The regular work done by Dead Sea Apes in the world of frenetic psych freakouts and jams for well over a decade continued on their 2023 release Rewilding, their first stand-alone album in some years. It almost has the feeling of an explosion of tension after the impact of the COVID pandemic – certainly when opening track “Denialist” kicks in, it feels like a sonic bomb has gone off. Strictly instrumental, the album’s six songs capture the sense of stomping metal-shaded grind and heavy vibes in its song titles like “Parasite Rex,” “The Sleep Room” and “Dead Zone.”
