Forgotten Hill

Chihei Hatakeyama’s albums often revolve around a specific reference to literature or a visit to a natural feature; Forgotten Hill, in its own distinct way, is both. Hatakeyama’s lengthy liner notes detail a visit to the Asuka region of Japan and visiting some old tombs in particular he first learned of through the famed manga creator Osamu Tezuka. With the inspiration of time and history as a further prompt, the resulting Forgotten Hill tracks, nine in total, reflect the sense of open space and sky conveyed through his always vivid and rich processed guitar efforts.
