Robe of Dreams

Released

Born after witnessing jazz saxophone legend Pharaoh Sanders performance at We Out Here festival in 2022, Robe Of Dreams is an album (one of four he released in 2023) from UK techno producer, jazz composer and DJ Kirk Degiorgio, and was conceived as a tribute to many of the artists that have influenced him. It’s an opulent journey of deep spiritual jazz and fusion, with hints of techno’s experimentalism running through it, an album that links the music of Carl Craig and Underground Resistance with Herbie Hancock and Miles Davis — and it does it beautifully. It’s perfectly organised, with an air of sophistication and attention to detail in the tracks, which range in mood from orchestrated, spacey and spiritual, to intense, fiery, and dark, to languid, blissed-out and introspective, and in style from jazz fusion, to spiritual, cosmic, funky, psychedelic and futurist. A highly accomplished piece of work, and clearly a heartfelt musical tribute too.
