While a lot of their peers experimented with drugs at the height of the swinging 60s, Simeon Oliver Coxe III and Danny Taylor expanded their minds using banks of vintage oscillators. Somehow combining folksy psychedelic flourishes with repetitive beats and atonal white noise, the duo presaged acts like Neu!, Can, and Suicide but forged their own sounds that even those experimental artists couldn’t figure out how to imitate. Opener “Oscillations” remains the self-reflexive classic while everything after only reinforces the pastoral nature of these alien landscapes.
