Jon

For a certain kind of person, dogs are man’s best friend. They’re loyal, energetic, and always happy to see you. For Jon—whose name is often modified with “the dog” to disambiguate her from a million other lesser Jons—she loves dogs so much that she wanted to become one. The Tokyo-based musician whose real name is Shoko Uehara dons a full-body dog costume and sings off-key songs about dogs, accompanied only by a pump organ that you can hear shifting and creaking as she plays. It’s difficult to say if you’re in on a joke or witness to a spectacle by partaking, but it hardly matters; she’s having such a good time that you can’t help but crack a smile. If being a dog is this much fun, then woof woof woof 🐶
