The vocalist of Mourning [A] BLKstar steps out here and gets into the operatic soul-with-head-voice game that Moses Sumney dominated, until now. Incredibly well-written and performed soul that taps into a dozen existing things (Roy Ayers, more than once) and sells it every time on Kidd’s vocals, which are truly no joke.
