Sosena Gebre Eyesus

Released

Sometimes it’s the simplest things that take you to the highest realms. The begena is a ten-stringed box-lyre from Ethiopia traditionally used to accompany Orthodox hymns, and Sosena Gebre Eyesus uses it here to weave deeply spiritual, moving incantations. With nothing more than the low vibration of her begena as an accompaniment, Eyesus’ soft, almost murmured voice is powerful enough to move mountains.
