Now we’ve got some real sampling time for the hard drive and the family resemblance to acid house has been (mostly) bred out. We’re in new territory, which you might think of as chill or psychedelic. The best-known track here is “Chesh,” which has no drums at all and sounds a bit like Philip Glass yoga music. This is a disjointed, slower record for TBD, but has some of their absolutely best stuff on it. These three genuinely love the sound of machines, and are happy to hear them simply stretch out and do their thing, arpeggiating and sequencing away.
