The Dark Third

Released

New-millennium nerds who grew up listening to way too much Pink Floyd, Pure Reason Revolution made a small splash in the UK but never quite broke through in a big way. And that’s a shame, because their approach to prog rock beats the cosmic pants off most neoprog/revival acts. They freshen up a moribund genre by pulling in the arena-friendly pomp rock of Muse and the pulsing ethereal beauty of post-doom The Gathering to create immersive epics like “Apprentice of the Universe.” The use of the repeated “bright ambassadors of morning” motif throughout helps enhance the dream-like nature.
