The River That Flows Into The Sands II

Released

As you could probably have guessed, The River That Flows Into The Sands II draws from the same sessions that produced its earlier namesake. It’s another collection of relatively brief studies for guitar, here with a slightly fiercer edge than usual, on a few tracks at least – the high end really tangles with your hearing. But the placating calm of the fourth, untitled track best captures the poetics of this material, with Chalk superimposing long, becalmed lines from six strings. It’s a welcome return to the sessions that produced one of Chalk’s most enduring albums.
