Tu Hoguera Está Ardiendo

Fusing together baroque pop with underground sensibilities and a great instinct for melody, this duo from Murcia, Spain made some amazing music in their brief run. Their debut album is full of songs that put together gorgeous melodies and ambitious arrangements with a dark sense of humor in their lyrics. Tracks like “Nunca Estás A La Altura” recall late ‘60s pop if not for Mariana Gómez’s whispered vocals, while the lounge-motorik “Rocanrolear,” the goth bolero “Megele y el Amor,” and the twee pop “La Mano de Santa Teresa de Jesús” demonstrate their wide range.
