Under the Stress of a Headlong Dive
Released
Imagine Fun House-era Stooges jamming with Lemmy-era Hawkwind and you have a pretty good idea what you’re in for with these Bristol mindbenders. They also namecheck Mudhoney, Monster Magnet, and Chrome. In other words, expect effects pedals. Their fifth album is like staring into a broken kaleidoscope – sometimes patterns coalesce and sometimes they dissolve into further chaos, but rest assured you’ll never hear the same thing twice. The tracks range from 17 seconds to 20 minutes and sometimes even resemble songs. Songs aren’t the point, though — it’s about the monlithic waves of fuzz. And they succeed mightily.
