Warriors Never Die

Released

On Warriors Never Die Haifa based duo Zenobia, composed of producer Nasser Halahlih and keyboardist Isam Elias, achieve a delicious balance on four expansive, trancey tracks that have all the power to ignite a dancefloor while also tugging at the heartstrings. Each track is based on a different folk song traditionally sung by women, and four female singers lend their vocals, which are at once ethereal while also transmitting enormous strength. “Tarweeda” has a galloping force to it, as if revving up for battle; “Ya Yuma” is a trippy party cut, with its pulsating synth bass and winding mizmar samples; “Olo La Emo” starts of like an emotional ballad, before swiftly turning into a dabke-infused banger; “Hayeed An El Jeshe,” the snaking, dubby closing track, is based on a funeral song, and imbued with an eerie energy.
