Sketches
In many of his previous works Beirut-born, Paris-based producer Hadi Zeidan explored the sounds of his heritage, reformulating classic Arabic sounds and belly dance rhythms through analog synthesizers and drum machines. On Sketches Zeidan deconstructs these sounds a little further, connecting the different worlds he inhabits through cosmic synths, funky dancefloor grooves, and more experimental soundscapes. Tracks like “Bellydance Vogue” stay in Zeidan’s territory by weaving vintage Arabic sounds into his leftfield productions, but the disco-tinged “Sundays in Paris” takes things into an entirely different direction. On tracks like “Máquina” and “Tabla Breaks” he straddles both worlds by working Arabic organs and tabla rhythms into the club-oriented tracks.
