Whatever The Weather

Loraine James’s alter ego does involve singing, and I am more than a little converted by her apparent love of Chino Moreno, but this album is very keyed to its title: it is ambience. Her version is striated and chopped, because she is Loraine James, but she earns that melting snowcap on the cover. The pads here? Glacial. The pacing? Neolithic. The sounds? Adamantine. Crisp and glistening digital growth.
